That's not to say a lot of that same processing can't be done with your third party effects. They also don't come with elaborate scripted simulations of real instruments' behavior that some more current synth/rompler VI's use now (something that can be considered both good or bad), and there are not a hundred takes on each sample made using a hundred microphones from every possible angle in an acoustically engineered space. more or less severe unevenness in dynamics of different sampled pitches of the same instrument that are not attributable to physical characteristics of the instrument). what counts as 'grit') and some uninvited (e.g. There are imperfections, some invited (e.g. With a little know-how you can still do much of the same stuff with these as you would with the "better" sounds. The sounds are good, they have the grit and realness to them that is absent from the more current, "higher quality" sound packs. I bought many of these months ago at the same prices. Be warned, once you start integrating SampleTank into your workflow, it’s maddeningly addictive and you’ll want to check out all the rest of the sounds. This "sale" seems permanent. As if that weren’t enough, SampleTank can be expanded with sound sets like Miroslav Philharmonik, SonikSynth, SampleMoog, and more. It’s a great ‘scattershot’ sampler engine that comes with an incredibly diverse library of sounds from every instrument category you might need. One of the best features of SampleTank is that it just comes with so… many… sounds. You can play using the Apple Camera USB kit and any class-compliant MIDI controller, or you can pair up a Bluetooth MIDI controller (although you’ll need to use another app to make the initial pairing, SampleTank does not handle this in-app). There’s an ultra-low latency mode that allows for a wonderfully desktop-class response from when you press a note to when you hear the sound.

Using the touch screen keyboard is fun for setting up sounds and tweaking, but it’s when you pair up SampleTank with a MIDI controller that things really start to come alive.
